Well I will ay this, commuting on a bike is a bit different than riding for leisure! This morning was my first day trying it – I picked a Tuesday because I work from home first thing, which gives me a good opportunity to miss rush hour in the morning.

The moment I got the bike out the garage though, it immediately started to snow. Only lightly, but it was definite snow. So the choice – either be cold and on-time, or be late and warm. Ended up going for the cold option, and given my cheap £20 gloves, my hands were pretty damn cold by the time I got in.

So one more thing I need to work on – when approaching a roundabout as the second vehicle, and the vehicle in front slows as if to stop, I set myself so I will stop behind it. The vehicle in front then continues and accelerates, not stopping at the roundabout because it is now clear – This entire situation is a little confusing for me as my stopping point has now changed, and I have to quickly reassess where I’ll be stopping and move appropriately. Stability being something I’m still working on, I’m not as stable as I feel I could be in this situation, and of course as I’m less familiar with riding, my clutch control suddenly gets worse too…

Well, knowing about the problem and analysing it are the first steps towards correcting it.

Now I’ve just got to wait until 17:30 when I can head home – hopefully not in the dark…
